I try to capture the mood of a scene. I can never tell when a place might inspire me, it could be the way the light defines patterns in the sand or strong shadows across a lighthouse. More obscure scenes also interest me, a winding road or unusual rock formations, even just particular colours drawing my attention. I generally work in oils, based at home in Ayrshire.I have completed commissions including architectural subjects and landscapes. My background is design based and my paintings have been included in many exhibitions and galleries.
